Hey guys,
So need to replace tie rod ends on my s3 and I've cracked the 2 inner but the outs have rounded nuts and are solid..
I have soaked then for a few days in wd40 and wire wheeled the treads and still no go.... Also tried some heat and no go..
Any one else got any ideas on how to remove them besides taking the whole steering arm and locking it in a vice and trying to crack it??
Will post a pic later but it's basically a rounded nut...

Chain drill down the side of the nut with a tiny drill bit, taking care not to go into the thread. Then split it off with a cold chisel.
You'll need a new castle nut but hey, I guess the old one's a gonna anyway.

Yeh was actually thinking a small hole into the side of the nut and keep wd40 or something stronger and then get one of them but splitters put that in the drilled hole and try and crack it..

Have you tried a pair of large pipe wrenches? The teeth can usually bite into rounded nuts.
