I need a 12a engine as I don't have the funds to rebuild the current one atm. I've got a series 3 if the makes any difference

Try bagging that S2 on eBay. Blocks are the same so just swap your S3 gear onto it.

Tool knows him.... he sold him the 12a turbo engine that the guy replaced this 12a with........ quite how he can say that the housings and tips are in perfect condition though is a mystery..... unless he's recently had it apart or has x-ray vision.

Yeah, that's him. I met home once, just to clarify what Ian said.

His name's Alex. He works for that big windscreen company. He also said the 12AT I sold him was perfect following inspection when he tried to sell it on in a S3. The inspection was me taking the turbo off to show him all the apex seals were present. He slapped it in and fired it up cos he sent me an email saying that's what he'd done. Not really an inspection.
He or his old man has got some skills though.

If he says its a runner I would expect it to be ok, but who knows how long for.
