Hi, ya'll - From Atlanta, GA

Post by msimonov »

Glad to be a member of this forum. Probably won't make any meets - long drive. I drive an 85 GSL, Tender Blue Metalic, and I think tastefully moded. I am currently gathering information to install RX-8 seats. That's what brought me to this forum.

Hi, Mike. Glad to have you onboard. I've no experience of RX-8 seats in the FB, I know they're a proper pig to squeeze into an FD but the FB has a bit more space inside. Out of scientific interest (and since I had one of each spare) I recently discovered that FD seats fit almost exactly onto FB runners, and the FD runners could probably be modded into the FB floorpan quite easily. I know Ramon has FC seats in his FB which were almost a straight swap.

The point I'm long-windedly getting around to is the one item Mazda seem to have consistency in is seats! How you'll power motors and airbags is another matter though...

Hi Mike

Owning an rx8, the seats are big and heavy especially the drivers as its electrically adjustable as you know.
Unless you get a UK spec passenger seat for your US spec fb, as the UK rx8 passenger seat is manually adjustable and
will work for you as a driver's seat, if you follow me.

I know some cloth seated rx8s were produced, but the leather seats had the heavier electrically adjusted drivers seat
and are heated. For those of us in the UK its needed lol.
