Back again ibto the rotary.

Post by sabotski »

Hi, my nickname is Sabotski, but I won't bore you with how I got it. I owed an '82 RX7 when I was about 17 years of age. Absolutely loved it, but as a kid, wasn't interested in keeping anything for too long. Now closing in on 50, I find myself in a battle of witts with my 17 year old son. He is choosing a '93 Nissan 240sx with a sr20det engine swap. You know how you can't tell your children anything when they are that old, so I am on a mission to help him understand that Dad's are mostly right. That being said, my plan is to use the 1st generation platform but upgrade the driveline with a 20b. I know for a certainty this will rattle the marbles rolling around in his brain. This is the first time for me on a forum like this, so I am looking forward to seeing your posts and reponses, as I have many years to catch up on quickly. All help is welcomed, and I do not shy away from criticism. thank you.

I am in Canada and will likely purchase an import motor from Japan.
Will most certainly start a build post. Thanks for your reply.

We are very much interesting in helping with this! Sounds like an exciting project for sure.

Are you planning on running NA or Turbo? Ported or stock rebuilt? There are differences in the engine basically, the early ones are slightly weaker and don't take too kindly to big turbo power, but the later engines are fine. The earlier engines are cheaper to pick up if you know about the weakness and can easily drop 300-350hp NA when ported so will give an SR20DET a run for the money any day.

I'd suggest starting with a GSL-SE 13b as they have better brakes and a nicer interior, but second choice would be a 79 Series 1 model with wind up windows... s(c)

Good luck and let us know how the hunt goes!

Hiya, and welcome along. Funny to think a Nissan 240SXs with a SR20DET is a desirable mod, they're called 200SX in the UK and come with one as standard! 20B FBs have been done before, but it is undeniably a lot of work. Please make sure you take lots of photos for us to admire, lol

As to the nickname, I wouldn't have wondered if you hadn't brought attention to it  A sabot is a method of packing projectiles in weaponry such as anti-tank rockets and such isn't it? Curious now :?

Clogs.

(Sabots = Clogs in La Francais).

Clog wearers wrecked machinery in the old days by throwing their sabots into the works. They gave the world the word 'Saboteurs'

Canada = French speaking in parts, Therefore Sabotski I figure you have worn clogs at some time.
