Just spotted a rather cheap gilmer driver conversion kit from the states- can anyone tell me what are the pro's and cons?

A double alternator pulley could be as little as £15. Try dm-motorsport, they make em.

I also have been looking at glimmer drive for a 12A to get rid of the clutch drive fan and install electric thermo fans. Would you guys recommend double drive belt with electic fan?
Also the glimer toothed belt prevents slip, but as long as your belt tension is ok then it will not slip - right?

if you're ditching the factory viscous fan ( the best thing you can do , by the way) and converting to electric, you don't need to run dual belts, a single belt to drive the water pump will be fine.
Problems with the belt slipping arose when the air pump and factory exhaust was removed but the viscous fan left on the car....... this meant the belts used to slip under hard acceleration whilst trying to turn the heavy viscous fan..... if you lose the viscous fan, you'll be ok.
I converted to dual electric fans on my last 1st gen and ran a single belt with no problems whatsoever.
This time, I'm running dual fans with dual belts but only because I got a very nice dual pulley for £10...... I wouldn't have bothered otherwise.

The generator drive coupling need more power with the electric fans if the battery is to small.

Depending on the size of the pulleys, it may offer an under drive to reduce the alternator and or the water pump speeds to free up a little more power/protection against water pump over speed or cavitation - not really a street issue though.
Sounds awesome, and jazzes up the engine bay a treat.
I'd also add that a light flywheel/high power will make the belt slip if only a single pulley on the alt so I'd upgrade to at least a double pulley.
