Hello from the Rocky Mountains

Hi,

Im Ben, I don't drive an rx7 (yet). The reason I joined was actually to gather information and research about these cars so I can decide about purchasing one. There are two here in Denver that i have been checking out. I have been "driving" my 72 baja bug. Its fun and I love it but its unreliable and something big is always breaking.

I love working on cars so i want something that i can build on. But i don't want to have to replace major components of the car everytime I want to drive (aka the bug ). I understand that these are older cars and don't expect a perfect car but i need something that i can drive everyday to school/work.

I'm not expecting anyone to answer these questions, I plan to to do plenty of research. Just wanted you to know where I'm at.

Hi Ben,

They do make good interesting daily drivers but you'll need to find a well maintained one 'cos the 1st generation cars that we're all about are still 30 year old machinery.
They were a premium build car in Japan though and rarely break down if really cared for.

Hi, Ben and welcome. I use my Series 3 as a daily driver all year round, even in the snow. It works fine, like Dave said just make sure you get as good a car as possible as a base, the more stock the better. You can always mod it to your taste later but you don't want to be undoing thirty years of someone elses' bodges . Buy on condition rather than age!

(Just like to point out although mine does get driven in the snow, I'm guessing the south coast of England doesn't get the same kind of snow that Denver gets I probably wouldn't try it in like four feet of the stuff )
