over the winter, I'm going to polybush my car and also take the opportunity to try to restore the steering to 'factory fresh' feeling ( if possible)
I've a s2 steering box the drop into it and I'm going to replace the inner and outer track arms as well as the idler arm bushing.
First up, I'm going to replace the ball joints...
here are my new ones...

I'm going to take them to the engineering shop next week to get them pressed into the control arms...

As I had to get the wifes car over my pit today to do some work on it, I took the opportunity to swap my new old stock tank onto my RX7.... another job off the list!
I'll ebay the old tank which is good and leak free, but if any members of this forum want it for free, speak up before it goes on ebay!

yeah, I gave the top a heavy coat of POR15 down as far as the seam. The bottom half has a factory applied rubberised coating as you know so I didn't bother with that...A7RXY wrote:Ian, when you fitted your new tank did you coat the outside with POR15 first ?

Problem is, they rust from the inside out when condenstaion forms on the top inside of the tank.... not much we can do about that other than keep them full all the time but as a new tank will probably last 15-20 years, I'm not going to worry about it!

if you premix your fuel to assist oiling the apex seals on the rotors, would the oil in the petrol
not help any corrosion on the inside of the tank?
i've been told getting the tank for the series three is handy enough so 20 years is good value.
seems the fuel gauge give trouble on fbs too, mostly the electrical connection to the tank.

I don't think so, the larger percentage is the petrol and even if the top of the tank was somehow coated with oil, the unleaded would wash it off. sounds like the only way is to keep the tank full, but thats an expensive option.
if they go, they go and best to buy a spare and keep it packed away and dry.

no aluminium tanks of the factory design and no new tanks available from Mazda anymore.... only second hand tanks and most are rusty.... finding a good solid leak free second hand tank is a challenge.spoddy wrote:sounds like the only way is to keep the tank full, but thats an expensive option.
