New member from Oz

Post by Bludnut »

G'day,
My name is Gary and I live in York, Western Australia a country town 100 klms east of Perth the capitol. I work as an architect for a mining design company.
I have had various first gen Rx7's for a few years now, purchasing my first, a 1981 Series 2 in 1991. I still have this car although it is not a runner at present.
My current car, Bludnut, is a 1984 Series 3 that I bought as a wreck in 2002. It had minor accident damage both front and rear complete with an unserviceable 12A.
The body was straight with no rust. The interior was in need of an overhaul as well.
Over the years, it has been transformed to become one of the best in West Oz. The car now runs a Series 5 13B turbo with matching gearbox, lightened flywheel,
intermediate clutch and pressure plate, 3" exhaust and Microtech computer to control electronics and fuel. It was recently dyno-tuned with 210bhp at the rear wheels.
Body mods include a group 3 rear spoiler, a vented front cowl and bonnet scoop. Paint is standard Formula White with a red pearl. Ancillaries are Sunrise Red hence
the cars name. It is a daily driver and occasional track day car.
My son is restoring a 1985 Series 3 and when finished will be similar to mine.
Between us we also have a A Series 1 Khanacross race car with a mildly tuned 12A. My wife has a Mazda Bravo dual cab utility which we use as a tow vehicle on race days.
Thats about it. Hope somebody is interested
Cheers

Hi, Gary and welcome. Definitely interested, mate! More pics, if you please? There's a couple of guys here in the UK with similar S5 turbo installs to what yours sounds like, it'd be interesting to see how parallel evolution has arrived at the same point IYSWIM

Hi Gary and a big welcome mate.

Good to see the FB is still very popular down under and most of all is also being taken up by the younger generation too.

More pics please mate - oh and white is definitely the better colour

Thanx for the comments. A couple more photos will be posted when I get the chance. Have to work out how to reduce the size. Stay tuned.
We have a few still on the roads here in Oz but becominig rare. With fewer available the value increases so of course insurance increases and
parts become harder to find. Cant win. Bludnut

Over here in the Uk, they were never very mainstream and there are now probably only around 200 left and less than 100 on the road. Despite this, prices are on the floor, they are dirt cheap. As we have found out over here, fewer cars left doesn't neccessarily mean higher prices. Of course it's a different story in Aus, where the rotarys were much more loved than in the UK.
