this is a copy of the fitting instructions for the Janspeed system and shows which things to remove and blank off if you remove the stock air pump and fit an aftermarket exhaust system with headers...

Similar to these instructions for the other popular 1st gen stainless system made by Double S...

Hi Derek,

Janspeed no longer make an 'off the shelf' system for the 1st gen and as far as I know, neither does anyone else in the UK..... I suppose there just isn't the demand any more. Back in the day, the 2 most popular systems were the Janspeed ( lots more power but very loud) and the Double S system ( much more bearable), both were stainless ( and therefore long lasting) and many are still to be found on plenty of 1st gen parts cars. The factory system was £700 to replace back in the day and the Janspeed etc came in at around £300 so most owners needing an exhaust opted for the double s or the Janspeed.
The best option is to keep an eye out for a car being broken for spares and see if there's one on it. The other option is to import a new system from the US but that will obviously be £££££'s!

This second hand system was for sale last year by a guy just down the road from me.... I don't know if it sold but I've probably got his email address if you wanted to ask him.
