Rotary Cherry

Hi all,

So I popped my rotary cherry in April 2018 when I bought my 1981 FB. It have been with its last proper owner for 17 years and briefly with someone that flipped it. Since then I had a lot of work done on it so it's now sporting an engine that had the full overhaul with seals etc. and it also included a brand new rear rotary housing; also a new clutch and a starter motor. The engine is so smooth now and it hasn't done 60,000 since new! It came with loads of the back file which is very nice to have too. It was originally sold in East London so it's now come home to London. For a variety of reasons it took until a month ago to get the car back.

The remaining mechanical things to sort out are the exhaust (replacement is being planned) and the fan + fan shroud. I'm struggling to find the fan components despite hunting all over the internet and I can't really drive the car until it's sorted; this is a big headache after the ££££s I've spent in the last year. Any help with this would be gratefully accepted.

The body work is pretty good and looks to have preventative work done a while ago probably when it had a respray in the original colour. The respray is still in reasonable condition and just needs some attention to make it shine. It is a very original car so I'm keen to keep it that way.

I'll put some photos up, i'm sure some of you will have seen it being advertised in 2017-2018.

Cheers,
Neil

Hi Neil,

Welcome to the forum h:
Great looking car you have there and if the engines been done then you should have a good reliable car too.
There's loads of experience on this forum and any 1st gen problems you come across... most of us will have had and fixed most of them... and we'll be happy to share how we sorted them.

Welcome to the forum, it's a lovely looking car, I really like the s2 wheels. A well sorted car by the sounds of it to. A lot of us run an electric fan these days as the viscous unit can be a problem as they get older.

Welcome, I love the S2 Wheels, the alloy polishes up lovely on them.
I have a S3 Fan & pulley etc, not sure if it will bolt straight on a S2, I am sure someone on here will tell us?

Thanks guys.

I have been thinking about an electric replacement. Would the standard alternator be ok with it?

Cheers.

No and the batterie also no! Pete the distance part between pulley and fan isn't the same you will need the S3 one or you having to bore out the holes and hope the are centric.
