From the photo it looks like there may be rust (hard to tell from a picture)at the bottom of the drivers door pillar below the windscreen, suggest you whip off the Matt black cover & investigate as severe rust underneath can be terminal as already documented on the Forum

Some pictures of the underneath for now, until I can get some time to do a proper build thread.

The underneath is in the whole quite solid, the floors and main chassis rails are good apart from the front end of the chassis which is almost falling apart

I managed to get a few minutes to inspect the windscreen surround this evening before coming from the shop, I think I may have only just caught it in time, rust is starting on the driver's side but the passenger side seems solid with no visible bubbling behind the covers, just the tops of the A posts have gone which is affecting the doors shutting.

I'll be keen to see how you tackle the rot in the door shut/bottom of a pillar areas. mine has some rust there although not as bad.

James, that engine sounds great but maybe I'm a wuss......body wise isn't she really a parts car?
(I'm sticking my neck out here but I think you'd want me to be honest).

You could seek out a better series 2 car and shift the best bits across?
Remember that Series 2 and Series 3 running gear is not the same.

I'd agree, but I think James likes a challenge, and this one is certainly a welding challenge

Honesty is the best policy

However, I've done worse, bringing stuff back from the graves edge is what I love. I'd rather save something if it can be saved. Keeping the original shell and rebuilding it gives me more satisfaction than shell changing. I'm not disagreeing with you BTW, in reality it should be a parts car...

... but where's the fun in that?

I'm going to be doing a lot of upgrades anyway, possibly upgrading to FC front 4 pots because of the power I'm going to run

Already bought a racing beat rear anti roll bar kit and a rear strut brace, (I know, but it's a good thing to have in a power car).
