G'Day for Brisbane Australia

Hi All,

Thanks admin for accepting my request to join.

I live in Brisbane, Australia. I currently don't own a RX7 and never have owned a rotary to date. I have two Mini Cooper S cars - one road / rally and one historic race car tucked away. I am currently considering getting rid of the race car and getting something a bit more friendly to play with (Av gas at $3.65 / L, and almost impossible to buy).

have a few teenage kids and I would like them to have a go at some entry level racing, I'm thinking an early RX7 unmodified would be a good start point, once the skill level increases so will the modifications

I have always loved first gen RX7's - I remember as a kid going to Lakeside Raceway (1980's) and watching Moffit in his Group C, and then latter on watching RX7's compete in Sports Sedans.

There was a black RX7 in a small town I used to live in - the thing was awesome, Simmons gold wheels, little wing on the back, and a modified engine - never met the bloke who owned it, but I loved that thing. Many years latter I lived in Toowoomba and a neighbors son bought a white S3 with gold Simmons on it - every thing else stock, I convinced him to take me for a drive - I have always wanted one since, but marriage, kids and a Mini addition stood in the way.....

Cheers,

Kuzzy

OK then - Green Mini:

This was my 1st Car - I bought it for $700, head was in the boot, cracked engine block, needed a full resto. Took about 5 years, added lots of go fast bits. It is a genuine 1969 Mk2 Cooper S - it will never be sold.

Race Car:

This is a Group Nb mini (formally Appendix J). 13:1CR, 1299cc's short stroke crank etc...... Loves revs!

Hope the photo's come through!

Hiya, welcome along. My first experience of messing around with cars was on Minis, always had a bit of love for them. My brother had one with all fibreglass one-piece front clamshell... not cos it was especially racy but because the original steelwork had rusted away so badly it was cheaper and easier to cut the whole lot out and start again  If it rained you had a limited amount of time to get home before the spray filled up the battery well in the boot through all the holes and when it got deep enough it'd slosh over the terminals and short out the entire car

Ahhhh, happy days
