First proper drive out on the new tyres today and yeah, they do transform the car... gone is the jarring ride from hard 20 yr old rubber and the tyres feel much grippier and planted on the road and the ride is more comfortable too.

In other news, I've changed my job, a complete change from what I've spent most of my working life doing and I'm now going to be working at a country location 9 mins from my house. I'm at the point in my life where I no longer need to work 5 days a week, 50+ hrs a week and up and down the motorway in all weathers so I've scaled things back to spend more time doing the things I enjoy doing and which are more important to me that chasing the money.
I left my old job last week which meant the company Audi went back and as I'm not going far I've decided to split my 4 mile commute between the 205 GTI and Gus so about 16 yrs after Gus was previously retired as a daily driver he's going to get used a bit more frequently which isn't a bad thing.... it's hardly going to rack the miles up on the car but will keep things working as they should.... likewise for the 205 GTI which I haven't had chance to drive nearly as much as I should....
Of course if everything gets locked done in the next couple of weeks then I neither the cars or myself will be going anywhere for a while.

That is awesome as to hear aye, Ian. It sounds like you've made the right choice with the job there. No point in travelling hours and hours a day if you don't need to! Really stoked for you.

Hopefully we can meet up a few times this summer :D Haha

thanks chaps... I'm ( I was) looking forward to using my classics daily over the spring / summer.... lets see what happens over the next few weeks
Car wise Gus is now driving great, it could still do with an E-fan fitting as the viscous fan is still stuck on and causes the belt to slip sometimes.
