New rotary fan here!

Hi everyone. I'm glad to be here! I recently became very very interested in rotary engines a couple months ago. I always thought they were cool but continued to focus more on piston engines. But recently I've been reading tons of info on them and have completely fell in love with the concept. Simple and effective is my type of engine! I'm planning on purchasing an fb in the spring and hopefully I can learn enough to swap in a 13bt over next winter. My name is Eric, hello to all!

Welcome Eric,
You have made a good choice, an fb with a 13bt should be fun 0-0

Thanks for the kind words guys. Yeah I absolutely love the things. Can't wait to have even the stock 7 in the summer. Yea it'll be pretty slow but I'll enjoy it regardless because its a rotary and I love fb's. Im in the United states by the way.

TBH, they're not that slow. They're light, which is good, and if you get a good one you can trust, once you get into the hang of revving it out, they make good enough progress to not disgrace themselves in modern traffic. If you're in one of the less restrictive states for emissions and stuff, ditching the anti-pollution rubbish and putting on a more open exhaust frees up a whole stable more horses with no other mods

Hey thanks Lucky! Im sure I'll be more than happy with the car in stock form. I'll put an exhaust on it and just drive it the way it is until im ready for the swap. Im reading a great book called Street Rotary which is an amazing book. Id recommend it to anyone. Im about 150 pages into it and just learned all about porting. Makes me love these engines even more. Can't wait to do a street port and some other smoothing out on the 13bt in a year or so. Im just so stoked about these things. Having dreams, reading tons of stuff, videos, etc. Im addicted guys!

Street.....yeh, that's my game, 30 mph, 40 mph, maybe even up to 50 mph at times.

Slow and easy keeps 'em running & running.

Welcome by the way
Codge

Street Rotary, by Mark Warner, yeah? That's a great book, an excellent way to learn about hopping up rotangs. Also worth a look is the older "RX-7 Performance Manual" by Mike Ancas. It's a bit more generalised, more of an overview but it's a great basic introduction to what can be done on RX-7s
