I am in the process of stripping my interior as some of it has seen better days so I am removing it all. well I decided to deal with my head liner yesterday and found that I have a whole in my roof :'(. the whole is where the sunroof latches are. on one side the whole is pretty big but on the other it is still a pin whole. Now my question is have one of these cars ever been converted into a targa top?

In UK?
None that I've ever seen. Seen one bloody awful 'vert attempt but I can't recall a targa

Yeah, Al Dooley's Pacific Avatar was a full convertible IIRC, not strictly a targa. Not sure that it was exactly
hideous, but it wasn't exactly elegant either
EDIT: Found it here

mine had corrosion there to its where 3 panels meet and the moister gets in i had all the old cut out and a new plate put back in but i believe it is a common problem

To answer this question belatedly, at least one has been done recently, and with some degree of success:

that actually doesn't look too bad. I like the idea of a targa roof, about the only thing I liked about MR2 ownership was that the roof panels lifted out.
of course, I didn't like them so much in the rain, where you got an impromptu shower on every corner

Just a little bit of work that's all. A non tech bystander might think it's just a superficial mod......but look at that lower body strengthening work!
Just your kind of project Nik......and pics required along the way...........
