Wheel Alignment: Toe, Caster & Camber!

Has anyone got any recommendations for alignment settings for the front wheels? Brian maybe you could let us in on what your ran on your rally car?

As part of my GAZ front strut conversion I will have adjustable top mounts, and so a whole world of adjustment opens up. I know what sort of settings I'd run on my mx5, having experimented with a few different sets, but thats based around also having independent rear suspension with camber and toe adjustment.

The live axel fixes the rear camber and toe at 0, unless I want to start bending the axel! After doing a bit of reading on other forums for cars with live axels, such as ae86s, and with my knowledge from the mx5 I've picked these numbers out of the air. Can anyone suggest anything better?

Front toe - 0
Front camber - -1.25 degrees for road, -2 track.
Front caster - 5 degrees

Just to update this with what I've read across the course of the day...

I had presumed that a car with a live axel would need quite different alignment settings at the front to one with independent rear suspension, to keep the balance correct. It seems I was wrong!!

So standard sort of settings for a front engined rear wheel drive car, as started above should do just fine :)

I will do Tim, just thought it was good to try and get some tech posts going here too :)

Looks like I may have upset Exile a little by forgetting to edit the mention of Brian out of the original post.... Ah well, not much response besides 'madza know best' anyway, which is probably fair enough but not much use when I cant use the original top mounts with my GAZ shocks!

I shall try some things out and let you guys know how I get on :)

Has anybody on here messed around with this stuff much and can update? :?: If any changes are needed. Hoping to book an alignment this week with my coilovers and camber plates on. Probably going to end up with what Steve mentioned but with -1.5 camber aye

I've been recommended to use these settings on my Tarmac Rally Car:

Camber - 1.5 Degrees Negative
Castor - 7 Degrees
Toe In - 1mm

Not sure whether those settings would be suitable for road use however.

So I had "Sticky" on the ramp and had the geometry final set up.

Well its unlikely to be final more a base line.

I went for :
Camber - 1.5 Degrees Negative
Castor - 4 Degrees
Toe In - 1mm

We thought 7 degrees of Castor could make the steering too heavy, so will see how we get on with 4 degrees.
