Hi all, I have just recently joined and was asked to introduce myself, so here goes! I live in Whitsbale Kent UK and I own a 1980 Mk1 First Gen and have owned it since 1982! The car had done 18,000 miles when I purchased it and it only has 54,000 on the clock now. It still very much original with a few minor add-ons to the body work many years ago.
It's only had one exhaust change back in 1988, two sets of tires, one new oil cooler and countless batteries due to not using the car that often. It has only ever failed 2 MOT's in all the years I have owned the Car so not bad.
I've been very lucky with the car with only little minor mechanical problems in 31yrs!! I'm hoping to find out via the forum just how many Mk1's First Gen there are left on the road in the UK today as I believe that in 1980 when mine was sold it was one of only approximately 400 in that year. I would love to know if this is also true. Has anyone on here have that kind of information?

I think Dave (Codge) will probably be able to tell you exactly how many were sold in each year, and probably for that matter, which number yours was in that run! The man's a legend 8-)

Welcome along, by the way. Got many fond memories of Whitstable from when my wife was at Uni at Canterbury. Spent many a day/night getting wasted at the Neptune on the beach there

You should be able to easily attach photos to,the post so you don't have to link to a hosting site - that's the easiest way.

Right down the bottom near posting options, there is an attachments link - browse the PC and fire away. As many as you dare! 0-0

The easiest way to to subscribe to Photobucket or Flickr or one of those photo hosting sites. They're pretty user-friendly, just follow the prompts to upload photos and then the site generates a unique address for each photo. Simply copy the code and paste it into the text box on the forum here and the pic will appear as if by magic. It's the easiest way because the hosting software automatically re-sizes the photo for you so it shouldn't blow the forum bandwidth or size structure out of the water. Free, too, unless you upload about a million pics

lol, posted while Ramon was too. He's wrong :P , ignore him

Hi Lee,

Welcome from me.

If you look in the Spotters Corner section on here you'll find a 1st Generation Location List. Find the May 2013 list, not the Jan 2013 list.

(We would call your car a Series 1 car, our others in the 1st Gen stable are Series 2's and Series 3's. The 1st gens finally changed over to the 2nd Generation Porsche lookalike cars in 1986 but you probably know that already).

You'll see Series 1's are rare as hen's teeth; I've only 2 noted in Kent.

Hope you can post some pics so I can see if I have your car noted anywhere. (I doubt it if it's not been sold and moved about like most).
It'll be a new spot..... :geek:

Hi Lee and wellcome, nice to know there are a few of us that have owned our cars for a while. What colour is yours I had one of the last series 1's reg'd in '81, it was moroon, looked brown to me, boy do I wish I had kept that car, but no I had to have the latest model, but then again I did sell a '67 DB6 to buy my first RX7, now thats the car I should heve kept.
