RX-8 Seats in an FB

I am planning to swap some RX-8 seats into my '85 GSL. I started this question in the New Members section while I was waiting to get permission to post. Here is bottom line:

I think the rotor pattern in the back (headrest area) of the seats are just cool. So I want them. Plus, I bet seats have improved in the last 25+ years. The seats I have sourced are US base model seats, manual adjust, not heated, but do have the air bags (not going to be used). I have read on the RX-7 Club Forum that these are good bit heavier and the rails won't line up with the FB, FC, FD rails. So, I know I am in for some fabrication. Has anyone on this forum installed the RX-8 seats in an FB. If so, what advice can you give me?

Don't think anyone here has done it - and from what I have read of it, you do need to crack out the welder to make them fit right.

I dont doubt that they are probably the best seat of the factory options, but the FC seats given they just bolt in were enough of a step up in themselves that I just took that route and have been very happy ever since.. :)

Yeah, I know you are right the FD seats, are probably every bit the upgrade the RX-8 seats are and they bolt right in. But that rotor design in the headrest is irresistable right now. After I fool with them for a while I may change my mind.
