Hi,
Anyone using an alloy rad such as the below
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MAZDA-RX7-RX- ... 2a1ec2b962
My current rad is looking a bit scabby and I am a bit worried that it will leak and leave me high and dry.
The other option would be a stock part either new from mazda (if avaliable) or a refurb.

Re: Alloy rad
I bought a cheap eBay Chinese Alu radiator. It arrived slightly bent in the post, and the quality of mounting brackets didn't look great (though I didn't really use them as I bought an FC radiator to retro-fit to my FB).....
BUT it held water and cooled it well. 18 months of daily driving later when I sold the FB it was still doing a great job. They are cheap, so you can't expect them to be perfect but I don't think they're a bad option at all.

Re: Alloy rad
Don't you mean 'hot and dry' Ken?
Refurb is good and easy. Many radiator recoring specialists still working around the big industrial centres.
A new matrix with the the original headers refitted and then the side plates on and it's good to go.
A waft with black glossy, a new cap and it's factory fresh again.
Mine was £100 about 8/9 years back.

Re: Alloy rad
I had my S3 rad recored last year. Cost about £100. Much thicker core and 2 row. Better all round.
That Chinese stuff is junk imo. You never know what you'll get till it arrives.
Bear in mind that S1/2 is different to S3 (S3 is full face due to the beehive).
His title is misleading for a start.

Re: Alloy rad
I would spend the monies on a recore. That way you know the dimensions will be right and increase the cooling with more cores.
I have used these guys in the past and they offered a great service. A bit far from you I know but they do courier.

I let do that 20years ago with a speziell radiator race block and find it´s a good way to get a better cooling with a S3 rad. I also take two oil cooler. One aircooled and the other one watercooled.(the bypass valve from the watercooled oil cooler open first and help for quicker warm up the oil)
