Hello from Ireland!

Hey lads,

My names Jason, from the east of Ireland. I picked up an S3 '84 FB late last year. Picked it up reasonably enough, but the import duty have made it an expensive enough purchase! The car is straight enough, with a bit of a dodgy paintjob. Colour is great and all, just the quality of work left alot to be desired. That, coupled with a hole in the left sill, means it's going to get a bit of rust repair and a respray (thinking Imola or Rosso red). That process will start this month all going well!

I've also picked up a nice set of Longchamps for her, need a refurb.

Only other plan for the year is to get the suspension replaced so she's sitting nice and pretty. I was planning on trying to get a bit of power out of the stock 12a, but after finding out they don't make the housings anymore, I was thinking maybe I'd be better off going down the 13b route from the get go. What do you guys think?

My other Pride and Joy is a slightly younger Eunos Presso V6, sitting on a set of coilovers and a few tasty Mazdaspeed bits I was planning on a KLZE (200bhp 2.5 V6) conversion on this but that fell though due to an issue with the courier. So, I sold that engine on while it was still in the UK and used the cash to cheer me up by buying the FB. Silver lining and all that!

Anyway, look forward to being a part of this forum and learning about the FB and 12a!
Cheers!

Thanks, Ian. There's very few FBs on the road here, so nice to have something a bit different!

And cheers for that link to that thread th:

Longchamps are a good choice!

A 13b is a good way to go, I personally think that a stockish 13b pushing about 160bhp would be perectly at home in the FB, would feel more torquey than the 12a as well as having better top end and without compromising fuel economy or reliability. There is a rotary workshop based in County Armagh if you ever (wanted) to travel there - he is from NZ if that makes any difference! At least it would be someone local to give you some options and help with sourcing parts etc.. if you did want to get the larger engine.

Welcome BTW :)
