Just trying out Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Liquid Car Wax. Easy to apply and buff off by hand. Impressed with the results

I will try cleaning up these fuel meshes in the ultrasonic cleaner, but I'm thinking it might be best to ditch them and place an in-line fuel filter in the supply hose?

no, don't ditch them, they catch the miniscule particles of rust and dirt that manage to sail right through an inline filter..... without them this stuff will go into your carb & engine.

It's surprising that anything gets through an inline but it does. Gently gently clean them up and reuse them.

I have sorted out the motor on the front windscreen washer, which had stopped working, as mentioned on the previous page. It just seemed to need a good run on a bench battery and it seems fine. I cleaned up the casing and the electrical contacts, plus I sprayed the motor casing with some black paint. I also cleaned up the washer bottle with some "citric" cleaner I had in the cupboard, aided by toothbrush - boy, was there some crud in there :o

I applied two lots of epoxy glue around the pinhole leak too. That seems to have worked - everything is back in, working and no signs of any leak after standing for a few hours

It's looking and working as good as new - a small thing, but very satisfying :D

Thanks, but I've got a long way to go before I can compete with Pete's (DKWW2000) cars :D

My brake servo isn't working quite as it should. When braking, the initial feel and travel is fine, but on extended brake holding, the pedal falls away very slightly, requiring more foot movement to maintain the same braking force.

Could this be a vacuum leak on the inlet pipe to the servo maybe? The original pipe is on there.

Does the pipe have an in-built check valve? I can't see any obvious slight bulge in the pipe to signify if there is a in-built valve.

Is there any easy way to replace the pipe (and valve, if in there) to check my theory. Any easy way to check the pipe/valve if removed?

The presence of a strange intermittent "ticking" sound I've been trying to track down since I bought the car might be related? The sound changes slightly with engine speed and is coming from roughly that area.

I don't think it has to do with the servo or vacuum. More likely there is an internal leak in the master cylinder. Had a similar problem last year with my 929. Pedal travel was inconsistent. Cylinders are easy to come by and cheap.

The OEM pipe has a one way valve installed Malcolm. I had no idea until I inadvertantly reinstalled it the wrong way around! I had to replace the factory pipe when I fitted the SU's as it was too short for the application.

This is similar to the device that I procured ... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6-8-10-12-Mm- ... 59722e0b9a
