To modify or not!
I never see why this should be a debate personally. I think if it's your car, you should be able to do whatever the hell you want to it without anyone sucking teeth about it. There are pristine original cars in museums saved for posterity, it's not the job of a street car. Street cars ought to be used, and if that involves being modified to make them more useable or to the owner's taste then that's all part of it.

in my humble opinion, clearly
I agree ....
plus in the UK there isn't any demand for 1st gens anyway, they're worth sod all either completely original or otherwise...... it's not like they're 45 grand cars
Take my black s3..... I could have kept it stock or put the Elford stuff on it.... I opted for the later because driving enjoyment is more important to me than preserving it in stock configuration and it's 100% better to drive than a stock car.
It's also more saleable and valuable as an Elford than as a stock car so if I was interested in the financial aspect of it, which I'm not, I'd still be on a winner.
Personally, I prefer the stock factory look of the series 1 but if someone wants to put their time, money and enthusiasm into one, then fair play to them..... it's their car to do what they like with it.
If it was a case of that red s1 going back unused into a lock up for another 16 years or going on the road now with plastic arches on it, the latter gets my vote.
I enjoy seeing the different things we all do to our cars on here......it's what makes it interesting for me.

The main reason I like the series 1 in its standard form is because it takes me back some 32 years to when I got my first RX7, but I also loved the look of the race cars back then, now at 60 all it is is a memory and I'm afraid one gets a bit sentimental, in saying that I'm sure if I was back in my twentys I would be wanting to do all the upgrades I could afford. Now where did I put that turbo I just bought ............ :D

It was 145,000 as of last November. It's moved around between owners quite a lot over the last few years but seems to have stayed MOT'd and running.

History is off and on back to 2002.

Who are we kidding, the housings are poked.

Ian, what series car did you get your good housings from? I got mine from an SA.

My housings came out of an elford s2 but the engine hadn't been in the car long and it had been rebuilt...... it had an early housing at the rear and a later one at the front..... probably selected for their condition to build one good engine...

this is the front housing....

and this is the rear....

Tell me about it.

That early housing hasen't been used since the RX4. What does the very top of the other housing look like?
