Went over to the workshop today.
On the way over I stopped off at Biznatch's (Glyn) because he was going to lend me his rear spats so I could get some copies made. Very good of him.
Got to the workshop and would you believe it the car had been primered. He told him 4 layers of paint had been applied.
The wings and doors are still off the car but he has said all along that he would paint them off the car.
In addition to the work we had agreed he has done quite a bit more in indentifying and repairing hidden pockets of rust. My son who came with me was pretty impressed with the quality of the work particularly where he cut away original body work and welded in new metal. As we all know our cars are great at concealing rust from casual observation despite my car being really solid underneath.
In particular he has repaired the common rust damage area behind the seats and the external part inside the wheel arch.
I have included a photo of the relevant area.
I have also included a couple of photos of the corrosion on the inside of the sunroof panel. The exterior looked in really good nick but it was rotting away inside along the seams all the way round. He has said that if all else fails and I can't source a replacement.
I showed him the rear spats that I borrowed from Glyn and he said he would be able to fabricate copies albeit from metal.
I have been looking around on the web to see if I could get some moulds made but I couldn't find anywhere locally who would make them and i have been told it would be expensive. My son suggested getting them done on a 3D printer but I wouldn't know where to start with that.

He is going to do some more work on it this week and I am going to see it again on Monday week.
I am seeing some progress and happy with the quality and extent of the repairs but obviously not happy with the time it has taken. My son who is a bigger pessimist than me is saying another month before it is finished, I hope he is right
