I always feel sad

when I see this sort of thing done to a classic, especially a rare 7. It destroys the car & makes it beyond a reasonable restoration cost. I know once purchased the owner is entitled to do what they like with it..........but why not just buy the car they are trying to turn it into.

Quite an interesting one, the advert says that its been converted to use the FC subframe.
But upon closer inspection that looks like to me 100% like an FD from & rear subframe that have been hacked in there.
If I wasn't at work I'd be tempted to go and have a look at it just out of curiosity.
wow, a blast from the past...that's my old project car that I sold 9 years ago to a guy who wanted to install FD suspension etc.... surprised it's still about after all these years.... looks in a right sorry state though.... here's my thread on it....

Ian, A great story which I followed through with awe. I wish I had 5% of your skill, knowledge, and tenacity.
Not sure what anyone could do with this project other than making it into Frankenstein's monster

I kind of get that, but this is a forum where people do regularly undertake major work on their cars and what not. #
I guess the only dividing line is success?
If he'd actually done a good job and got a full FD suspension in their and put it all back together tastefully then we'd probably be talking about what a sweet ride it was.

I do understand what you mean & agree, there are many that I admire, it is as you say seeing them abandoned.

Up for sale on Ebay Series 3 in red with Elford turbo set up.
The ad states 66k miles but looks a bit doubtful but who knows after 36 years.
Could be a good buy
Bids currently at £720 but reserve not met

Does anyone know the history?
I'm seeing red seats & a brown dashboard.
I'm seriously tempted to buy it for the engine / turbo setup, but it looks a little worse for wear.
That and the fact with the whole show on lockdown it might be hard to get it delivered.

on Ebay there is an FD shell for sale but in the background there is a white series 3 with unusual stiipes across the bonnet with a TVR spoiler i think.
The car looks a bit rusty and i do not remember seeing it before unlike the red one Ian identified in the previous post.
I wonder if we have the details of this car on the register or whether the owner would provide them to us
Going by his ebay name he looks like a rotary fan
