Yayyy! Collected the car today, have to start by saying huge thanks to J at Super 7 for getting it up and running in such a top state. The welding and repair they've done on the few bits of rust is tip-top. Can barely tell where the sill was done, and also plated those stupid fishplate things where the rear suspension tie rods connect to in the wheel arch (hmm, need to brush up on my parts naming skills, maybe  )

Anyhoo, not had a chance to do much yet other than drive it a bit and buy some wheel locks, but took the chance for some more photos before I get it all manked up with road clag

Lovely! Still can't get over what good condition it's in :D It even still has the fifth alloy in the boot! Couple of pics of the FD sulking in the garage and plotting revenge. Bet the bloody thing won't start next time I try

Couldn't resist this, either, since I was getting some little "13 Bee" decals from Pete on FDUK, got him to make some up for the 12A as well. Cheeky li'l finishing touch.

Hopefully going to get a modern head unit in there the next few days, cos the aerial's snapped off so the radio don't work, and who the hell has cassettes nowadays? Gotta have my chooons. At first I thought the stereo was original and would have been slightly reluctant to rip it out for a newfangled thing, but it's an aftermarket Kenwood thing anyway, so happy days. Free conscience :D

Dave, I forgot to make a note of the VIN for you, I'll sort that out tomorrow, mate. I'm dying from man-flu of the face right now, so can't face getting off my death bed (well, the sofa, anyway) to look right now

looks great mate :)

really like the front photo, they look so cool fb's from the front.
very shiney paint work. i'm not a big fan of this colour of blue, but it looks well on your car.

just go out and have some fun and listen to the 12a instead of the radio.

good luck!

Great stuff Nik..... glad the deal is finally done and you've got it. Compared to the fd they seem slow, basic and simplistic but as a complete package, they are a great little car...... and easy to fix without computer diagnostics and all that cobblers.... plus the potential for more power and improved handling is huge. Nice one!

Great looking car Nik, in one of the best colours if you ask me.
Dont forget if you are getting withdrawals you can chuck some castrol r in the tank and sniff the exhaust fumes.
Enjoy!

Hi Nik and welcome to the forum as an fb owner - very nice example and in such good condition too. You must be extremely proud of it g-l
I feel very close to this particular rex (as do others I suppose) and really pleased it has turned up here.
If you ever feel like changing the exhaust for something different ;) ;)

Thanks, Cliff. I can't believe I'd forgotten all about the evil Don Wyatt and his scoundrelly tactics. I had to cyber-hack into *cough* another forum and read up the old threads, and then it all came flooding back. With hindsight, I'm glad I was a bit rude to him now lol. The car feels a bit like I've ended up with a sorta national treasure now hahaha, it's a slightly onerous duty but one I relish, trying to keep it in such good nick. I've already promised myself that I'll be changing nothing irrevocably, so it can be put back to stock if it needs to... we'll see how long that lasts but I've got the FD to indulge my stupid money-wasting tmodding tendencies on, after all. For now, I just love driving it, and that's enough :D

Good call on that Nik - I would like to think a car in such gr8 condition might be kept as was BUT then again it's not mine and I've got no right to dictate to others. Just enjoy it mate (you lucky b******) lol
