And when you bill, don't forget to add on the UK Post & Pack costs to send the 3 sets out to us Rockauto Groupies.

Re: Gearbox or clutch
I purchased the master and slave cylinders a couple of months ago and finally had them fitted a few days ago.
Unfortunately the problem is still there and getting in to reverse gear is still met with a fair bit of resistance and crunching. It seems to help if I pump the clutch a few times. Also when I first start the car it is sometimes a bit hard to get it into 1st gear but i pump the clutch a few times and then it is fine.
I think the clutch maybe worn but it is not slipping.
Is it worth getting the clutch done and where is the best place to source one for my Series 3 Elford?
Thanks
Kevin

Re: Gearbox or clutch
Changing the clutch on these is dead easy and cheap enough.
S3 225mm clutches aren't the easiest to find in the UK though.
EDIT: Here's one at a great price. Snap it up!

Re: Gearbox or clutch
Just a quick thought on the engagement problem
Has the Gearbox oil been changed, mine was the same as it had been standing for several years, after changing it was better, I also added a small amount of ZX1. If it is overfull that can also cause the same as they are often check whilst on ramps and not level!
If you stick it in 5th at about 4500 rpm (whilst moving) if the clutch is going you will feel it.

Re: Gearbox or clutch
The gearbox oil was changed about 3 months ago.
It could have been overfilled though. It was done by a mobile mechanic who did use ramps so the vehicle wouldn't have been level.
Interestingly there does appear to be a small oil leak from the gearbox. I had a look at the underneath of the car when it was in the workshop having the clutch cylinders replaced.
I can't remember whether I had the selection problems before I had the oil service but I think I did.
Do you think that overfilling could be my problem?
I have gone and bought that replacement clutch, thanks Tool for link.
I seem to be spending money on fixes that don't fix. it makes we wish I was more hands on.
Cheers

Re: Gearbox or clutch
sounds to me like you still have air in the system and it hasn't all been bled out...... you'd think that with the clutch hydraulics being a short run that they'd be easy to bleed but the opposite is actually the case.... the clutch hydraulics on these cars can be a right sod to bleed properly...... if pumping the pedal gives you a good clutch then my money is on air in the system.
