busy day today, finished building most of the engine and most of the loom wired in and found the engine is just mm from inside the bonnet so hopeflly i wont have to cut any holes
greased & fitted new headlight motor assemblies for both sides so they are working
new injectors and pipes fitted, just need to get creative as to where the meter head will be located
Battery tray back in
test fitted the exhaust downpipes and they sit perfect in the tunnel so just need to make some mounts underneath
found a list of small items im missing so sourcing them right now
next job is fit pedals so its back to having 3 and figure out how im going to mount a clutch cable through the bulkhead as it wont have hydraulic clutch #oldskool
Couple of bits missng from loom but the cables are there just need to figure out which one works the cold start injector and wire that in
Also sourcing all the rubber hoses, will be going for aftermarket coloured ones, probably blue to match the ally induction pipework i have to fit around the bay to the metering head

heres todays progress th:

What are you doing to the tank to run the injection pump?

Certainly looks like it's coming together nicely - and the pink really sets it off!

You could easily drop a turbo on that as well 8-)

I've had the Capri 2.8 Injection Special and the Sierra XR4x4 both with the Cologne V6...... good powerful engine.... a handful in the Capri though, unlike the underrated XR4x4 which cornered like it was on rails.

I will probably fit an inline fuel pump to get the fuel into the metering head, there will be plenty of room to run it around the engine bay and tuck it in a corner somewhere

the pink is cadbury purple, my camera and the sun makes it a lot brighter than it is in real life lol

Could do the twin turbo conversion for a real fun ride lol

next big thing will be brakes
anyone point me in the direction of new handbrake cables for an RX, I may even fit a large drift handbrake with no ratchet to get the back end round :)

Thanks kiwi dave I have just ordered a pair as i might as well do this properly and rebuild everything

Sunny evening last night so I dismantled most of the steering assembly to replace all the ball joints on the steering system and paint all the connector rods

Fitted brand new M10x25 stainless bolts and nuts on the engine mounts and brackets so they look pretty now, put the old bonnet back on and found the much higher plenum chamber of the ford V6 just misses the underside of the bonnet so no need for cutting ;)

The awful vents someone cut into the original bonnet I have now sourced from japan a matched pair of universal bonnet intakes that will cover those holes that i will cut down so they are lower to the bonnet so it will have a look to it now that I hope will finish it off nicely

More new stuff arrived today and a brand new set of 8mm plug leads for an old ford V6 are unbelievable cheap at £20 delivered for a set of 7 so i snapped them up too
Missing all the rubber pipework too but someone gave me a bag of 50 assorted stainless steel hose clips today that are used but like new so I can start looking at those too now :)

Bought a matched pair of 10" slimline fans that I am going to cut out the old rad mounts and fit new mountings for the ford radiator to sit further forward and then instead of a giant propellor on the engine permanently pulling air it will have twin cooling mounted under the bodywork in front to keep the bay tidy and push air through the rad, as the body kit doesnt have much ventilation up front I have a sheet of foamex that I will make a nice scoop to force air from the low grill directly through the rad as its lacking a decent air flow

Found a problem and the drive shaft is forcing the engine forward by about 10mm so I have to remove that again but leave the engine and have approx 25mm cut out of it to give it movement for the suspension, just hoping for more good weather now as this project is in my garden and i can only look at it in the rain

Now the weathers here the progress should really start piling up now th:

Nice sunny evening today so after work I had a crack at some more on the REX

Fitted starter motor and connected to loom & battery power cable
Removed both front calipers after a small fight and sourced a company that sells the rebuild kits online for £19 and new pistons for £19
I have a rounded head on one of the sliders so hopefully that will come out in the vice now or I buy a replacement recon caliper for £104

Built a bracket from galvanised steel at the weekend for 2 slimline electric fans to go in the front and they seems to be spot on so i can get on and weld those into place very soon ready for the rad to go back in after its had some purple treatment at the top and a good flush

Some new parts arrived this week including 2 more tins of cadbury purple, one item was the water temp sensor & housing that i was missing so that was purpled again tonight :)
