Re: A Kiwis Series 3
Thanks heaps guys. Driven it a few times now and holy moly it is FAST. I'm not gonna take the piss with it for a good while yet though. Turbo spools nice and low which you don't expect from such a large huffer
. Comes on hard too! Suppose the lightweight flywheel helps haha. The tune seems really solid also. Still haven't reached full throttle yet
. It drives really nicely around town which surprised Steve-A and myself, considering it has a pretty large streetport (from what Tim said). Wouldn't want to be sat in traffic for hours though haha.
LSD is definitely on the to do list. I had been thinking about an MX-5 or SE diff but unsure how long they would last with the power I'm making
. I won't be doing 7000rpm launches or anything, but still!
. Which had me then move on to Cusco or OS Giken differentials. The price is quite a lot more (£750-1000ish) but I think they would last a lifetime really. Especially the OS Giken (MX-5 unit), which is a pretty holy grail of Japanese drivetrain parts and is supposed to perform incredibly. Along with some billet shafts I think I should be pretty sweet
. I believe they're a pretty reasonable price too.
I did also think about full rear end swaps (hilux, atlas etc). But the cost will be pretty full on - even with my friend who can shorten the housing and weld new mounts on. I'd still have to buy a decent LSD
I need to get the few short clips that Beth recorded last weekend and upload them. My bro is struggling to find his go pro

395RWHP according to Tim's dyno sheet aye. That link talking about factory LSD's is saying The "'84-'85 versions have larger diameter axles, and reach their limit at around 350-375hp." As nice as their setups look. I'll be looking at a good few grand in buying something from them aye!

Re: A Kiwis Series 3
LSD is twice as strong as an open diff. S3 diffs are 26 spline, instead of 24 spline, as we all know.
Tim was running a 24 spline LSD in his car with that motor.
Did he have any problems?

Back in the UK for the summer, maybe longer......

Re: A Kiwis Series 3
I believe his started to make a little noise but it went away when he changed the oil. Which is why I was reading about the MX-5 OS Giken/Cusco diffs aye
. A few people said they're quite a bit stronger than the standard MX-5 LSD's. The series 3 RX-7 OS Giken unit is NLA by the looks of it. Tim (Chud) mentioned that Tim (RXMotors) uses an OS Giken and billet axles in his drag car

Re: A Kiwis Series 3
That looks like a good guide aye
Trying to get the 2 lower strut bolts off so I can get my coilovers made up. 2 days and I've only managed to undo 1 bolt. I think I've broken my steering lock. Is this dangerous? Could it now lock up whilst I'm driving?? I really don't know what to do
