No, I've got no plans to sell it...... I'll probably store it in case I ever want to convert the car back in the future.spirit r wrote:What's happen with the elford equipment after the swap? You sold it?![]()

Re: 1986 Series 3 Elford Turbo
I sent my turbo off to Turborebuild.co.uk for inspection and a quote and got an email back today....
Hi Ian
Your unit has arrived and been inspected. Parts needing replacement are as follows
Turbine shaft and wheel
Bearing housing
Bearings and seals (Carbon style)
To rebuild with standard spec would total £210 plus VAT
To rebuild with 360 Race Thrust bearing and uprated seals £245 plus VAT
I don't think that's too bad to have the turbo rebuilt by a turbo rebuild specialist and given that it's at least 30 years old now and the turbo is the only moving part in the whole setup, it's worth doing to preserve this Elford setup for the next 30 yrs and basically put it back to 'as new' condition.
Happy with that.

Re: 1986 Series 3 Elford Turbo
I'm going for the 360 Race Thrust bearing and uprated seals £245 plus VAT.... worth it I think for the extra few quid..... a very informative and interesting article here on turbo bearings.....

Re: 1986 Series 3 Elford Turbo
I'm still going to run the Elford for the next year or two whilst I get the 13BT ready to install....... the turbo 2 engine swap is still my goal but it will be an ongoing project in the background while I continue to use the car as it is.

Sounds like a good plan, Ian. That pricing isn't so bad either I think

Re: 1986 Series 3 Elford Turbo
Sounds dead cheap to me, Ian. Last time I had a turbo rebuilt it was wayyyy more than that. And it was an old T04S that died shortly afterwards anyway of apex seal inhalation
