is there any surface rust inside the tank? they usually rot from the inside out with condensation/rust forming on the inside top of the tank. Brick acid and gravel is a good way to clean all the rust off it and get it back to clean metal... bung the gravel and a very strong brick acid solution in and then shake it all about.... cleans the tank and gets you fit at the same timeLucky wrote:Yeah, kinda, thanks. It confirms how I ended up with mine being, although to be fair there's no other way it can really go! Still looks like there's something missing there, though, that clip bit looks like it ought to... well, clip to something reallyAre cable ties petrol-proof?
Anyway, I've ordered in a POR15 tank inside sealant kit so I'll report back on how that all goes when it arrives and I man up enough to try it. This tank's in really good nick, but knowing how rare they already are and how badly they can rot I'd like to do everything possible to future-proof it

Derek - could you measure the width and length of the top section that has the hose connections? I wonder how close in diameter it is to the FC fuel injection top and if that would be an easy way to drop a high pressure pump in.
Height and width at longest points for the pipes and filter would be interesting too if you get a second.
Overall drop from the underside of the top plate and the bottom of the filter is 270mm.
The top plate is oval with 6 holes for 5mm screw. Top plate dimensions are 96 x 107mm.
It's possible that that is a Euro standard, I have been lucky with my tank, I have had to use a Racetech fuel gauge and sender, and the Racetech sender fits the S3 tank sender aperture with just a little tweaking of the top plate holes, the screw holes pcd is virtually identical, 60mm v 62mm.
The fuel feed pipe is 8mm O/D and return and breather are 6mm O/D.
Dogleg offset is 180mm.
It's on the bench if you need any more dims.
Cheers

Re: Fuel tank refurb questions
I did... the FC is way off this. Top mount plate is a much larger size so once I saw that I gave up.
I did take measurements, but forgot - if I remember i'll post them up in this thread.
