hearing things like this frustrate the life out of me, but the original owner learned their lesson the hard way, thinking they knew more.
it is just frustrating that these cars in this condition are so hard to find and when offered a sensible price people think oh i'll get a better
offer from someone else and then won't go back to the potential buyer but think oh they'll fight over this car at an auction because one fella
was so keen on it.
only to be hit by reality that auctions are where cars get sold less than their real value as it's dealers who bid a certain price and in the end are
there to make money by selling them on.
but we shall see how long it sits at that money i know s3's are making that, so as its a s1 you do expect it to be more valuable if in very good condition.

Tell me about it, my shock to see it back on eBay. How has it gone up so much? There was a lot of rust around the wheel arches, expected dents of a 34 year old car, however, does look good with a wash. But not convinced on that price. I feel I've given up on it now.
Also, the TWR one, I'm sure rotechniks had that for about £4k a few years back? So yeah, double the money and put it in a museum. Makes perfect sense to me.....oh wait!
I've been after a pre 81 so I can put it in classic regularity rallies, not to thrash about but have some fun and show the piston boys the power of rotary. But alas, it seems not.

i'd offer the dealer your initial offer to the original owner and just say its because of arches etc, then say sure give me a call if you change your mind if he tells you no.then sit and wait.
if you get something nicer then no harm done, but they might end up calling you and taking your offer as there will be very few who would be interested in it, say you'll take it off his hands and have the cash on you, just like mike outta wheeler dealers, cheesy, but it works when you wave a few grand in their faces.

it looks a nice one indeed, worth someone going to have a look if nearby as no reserve on it, so good opportunity alright.
the advert write up sounds very genuine. looking at the door lock it looked like it had been replaced and reading it has a
key for the driver's door and ignition and another for the passenger side, locks must have gone faulty, dunno if that's typical?
but goes to show always a nice example kicking about and when a non PAS car gets too tiring for people to drive they move it on.

sounds like someone's punched the drivers door lock and the ignition barrel at some time in the past, hence the damage to the door skin around the drivers door lock and why only these locks have been replaced. It wouldn't necessarily put me off the car and it's easy and cheap enough to swap the complete set of 5 locks to get back to just one key doing all but I'd want to HPI it to make sure there's nothing recorded against it. Back in the car theft and joyriding epidemic of the late 80's / early 90's, it seemed that anything that looked as if it would do over 100mph ended up with it's drivers door lock punched and the ignition scaffolded and that door damage is typical.

It does look nice, the white car in Selby. 28,000 Miles - remarkable.
It says it had a new Mazda exhaust in 2012. That must have been pricey. I wonder how they found one?
The clutch fluid is a bit low....that ties in with the clutch being a bit worn.....I think it will have dropped in the reservoir like brakes do with wear?
Also a new spot. Seems like it's been out of sight for yonks!

I know that the wine interior has it's haters but it looks rather nice against a white exterior. Once again, shame that it's so far away

Would the complete lock set be from a scrapper or is there somewhere to buy them new? My passenger lock is mangled up and I can't even get a key in it aye :x haha. Should really have a proper look at it and try fix it myself though. Also have keys that fit hatch/door, door/ignition and not one key that fits all locks

Hahaha
