an old housing would have been cool too lol. seen a housing and a rotor painted up and looked well on the mantel of a fire.
have you seen the rotor Nik polished up? Man, it's a work of art although he says never again!

is it the one from the fd post? the rotor all polished in front of the fire?
if so it looked fantastic. love something like that.

i know some people make them into clocks by filling the hole where the eccentric shaft goes with a small clock.

This has to be the ultimate rotor clock http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... 7RfuSOUkYk not just cos it's a Norton rotor and therefore quite funky and unusual but also for sheer over-the-top bling factor. Mind you, be difficult getting any sleep if that was your alarm clock lol.

I did polish a rotor up that Beth even agreed was enough of an objet d'art to be allowed on the hearthstone. I have to say, they're pretty hard old things, I'm not sure I'd want to do another one by hand. Still, it looks pretty good and sets off SWMBO's amethyst geodes quite nicely (no, that's not a euphemism for anything, lol)

I've actually got an entire engine now (i.e. two housings and rotors, don't ask how  ) but I need an E-shaft. I had some half-baked plan of cleaning/polishing them up so I could use them as a display at shows and that, following the success of MR TOOL's motor at the Gathering. But because I'm lazy and the weather's been crap they're just stuck in the garage gathering rust  ...

that'd be a great idea..... Tools engine display attracted more attention than the cars.

that's the one i was talking about, looks fantastic. shiney :)
i'd like a rotor housing and rotor as a display.

and yes if you show people the housing and rotor they are more fascinated by that than the cars.
its the size of the housing etc that they can't get over, all that power from that? etc.

i'll have to get an old housing and rotor some day.
