we've been admiring it on the forum for a good while..... surprising that it's taken so long to sell but many people get lured in by the cheapo projects on ebay and buy those instead.....
It looks lovely, no wonder you're chuffed.
Great score

I think the seller was a little bit optimistic with his pricing; I believe he wanted £2850. Without an MOT & Tax - an FB isn't worth a brass farthing, but they seem so simple that I do indeed agree- I can see the temptation of a £500 project over a £2000+ car which will (in all honesty) probably turn out to be a money pit. Even with MOT - they're pretty much in the bargain basement with prices of fuel & tax rising.

However, it's very rare to see a bone stock car in good running order, rarer still to see one with a fresh 12months MOT considering the more stringent nature of the new test. So I figure mine will be a garage baby rather than the daily driver it was intended to be seeing as though my landlord has offered me his heated garage for the winter. For the meantime I will be researching electric fan options as I'm not convinced by the viscous fan / light aircraft under the bonnet and; with viscous fans out of production, it would be logical to look to the future. I think a rebuild is on the cards in the next 12 months, whether or not I do that myself is yet to be decided. But, I'm not sure if I want to modify the car for any other reason than preservation for the future. Nevertheless, I hear manifolds & Webber 48IDA's aren't badly priced in New Zealand and Oz...

Anyway, I sadly got shafted by the lack of light tonight - so no more pics until tomorrow I'm afraid. With the rain setting in I might take the opportunity to give the bodywork a little freshen up. Oooh... isn't life just a whole lot more fun when you have a new toy to play with?!

Welcome Dave, looks like you have got yourself a great car there.
Good second hand exhaust systems can be found if you are not in a rush, and the original carb can be fettled with good results.
Looking forward to some more pics.

Welcome, Dave from Sussex, I'm Nik from Sussex lol. Seems to continue being the most righteous rotary county in the land haha. Though if you're near Marc I guess you're in the wrong Sussex

That looks a really top car, hope to see you and it out and about some time :D

Ah Ah......time for some geeky anorak guys......."Doooh not again" you are all saying.......

Sussex has 12 No. Series 3 that have been noted.
Dorset only has 10 No.

But if you take S2's and S1's .......Sussex 4 No. of those, Dorset 11 No.

Totals Sussex 14 No. Dorset 21 No.

It's Timmy White that does for Dorset!!!!! (Our Tim helps a bit as well).

By the way I've noticed that Sussex sounds a lot like Sussies......that glorious piece of ladies' 'tackle' that always hits the spot!

so if we discount cars like Tims collection that have been stuck in barns and sheds for years, which county leads the way for road going, taxed 1st gens?

That's a bit more difficult to extract since I conveniently lump all cars into counties for location purposes.
But trawling through the individual locations in the 'Taxed and Rally Cars' sections.......it looks like a draw......6 all
(Incidentally Tim White has a few taxed ones which I've included).

Perhaps we should arrange a Sussex / South East meet?

Many welcomes Dave.... I am yet another Dave (we've even got our own TV channel  ). Every RX deserves a heated garage for the winter, you are most fortunate and I'm not the least bit jealous. Looking forward to meeting you and your car sometime for a red FB photoshoot. 0-0
