I think S3's are Black colour??

So, according to the very in depth link to gearboxes, ratios and stuff, it's a green 17 tooth for an S3.... is this opening the proverbial can of worms??? Loads of info in there..... wow.

Sorry to hijack the thread - but is there a way of knowing what gearbox is what...I have a spare in my shed, but not sure what series it's from...
If you pull the speedo drive out Marc, the drive cog is coloured (green, white etc).... I can't remember which is which at the moment.... but I'll check it out later and let you know. It's the only way to positively confirm which box you have.
here's the info...

No, I'm sure we're right.....Green 17 tooth for S2, Black cog for S3. In fact I know we're right, so the other chart (not Ian's) must be wrong for UK Series cars.

Just possible the error might be a USA market versus UK thing, as is so often the case with tech data, though it's hard to work out why in this case 'cos both sides of the pond had same wheel sizes?????

Yay.. TWiR is back home. Certainly a different beast now in terms of driving but no chance to really test as friday evening M4 was pants. Not helping is the fact that the idler bushes need replacing so it is truly a wanderer at the moment. Just ordered a pair of those superpro bushes from the link on another post.

Can't really say enough about the guys at Hayward Rotary. Apart from the detonation issue ( leading and trailing coil leads were connected incorrectly and then the ignition advanced / retarded up against the stops to compensate.. oh dear), most of the to do's on my list were electrics and Ian is a star troubleshooter. The windows now go up and down. This would not usually excite me much but the assemblies were both removed, stripped, cleaned and greased. So it's ok to get excited about up and down things because the motors that power them go round and round so the rotary gods are happy.
The fuel gauge now works, another bodge job rectified. The rear wash / wipe now does exactly that and the hazard lights happily flash away. A few more gremlins have surfaced in the fault tracing process so questions will appear in the appropriate sections shortly.

The brakes were stripped, greased and refitted as TWiR has done only a few hundred miles in the last four years. New filters and fluids as she's happy for now. Photos soon as it's too dark now.

Quite liking the photo of TWiR on the banner, caption should read "RX7 feeding in it's natural habitat"

TWiR took a drive to Paragon Auto Finishing on the weekend. She's always scrubbed up quite well in photos but the paint was very tired and there was all manner of nasty stuff on the bonnet which looked not nice at all.
With Marc attached to a polisher and Karissa attached to an assortment of polishing cloths, there followed several hours and then several more of applying and polishing with general ohh ahh appeciation noises from me.
Will add photos tomorrow as I have just discovered that I cannot upload the ones I took as files are too large. If it is fine tomorrow, I'll take TWiR out for a photoshoot.
Finally, a huge thanks to Marc and Karissa for the transformation of TWiR W(p s(c) if you truly love your car, you should treat it to the experience.....really......go on.......do it now!!

Thanks for the kind words Dave, honestly, the pleasure was ours, it was great to have TWiR in the workshop :)

Do you have a photobucket account? Free, and it makes posting pics a doddle, just copy and paste the direct link text into the post, and hey presto :)

yeah, photobucket is definitely the way to go.... it's free, easy to use, you can just copy and paste your posts from one forum to another and you keep control of your images..... and you don't have to worry about image sizes.
Look forward to seeing the pics Dave.
