Other than that guys things are pretty good a the moment, thanks for being concerned that I'd dropped out for a while.
Welcome back, bastards, don't suppose you saw the culprits legging it did you?
I love italy, but find it just so expensive.
Found a new place 5 years ago accross water from italy, montenegro, same mountainous scenery, venetian old towns[kotor/perast/prcanj ],most southerly fjord in europe.
Dirt cheap, large beer just under a litre 1.2 e,a good meal ie 65 mussels 1kg 8e,large pizza 5e,all in waterfront restaurants.
Much cheaper than italy, greece, turkey & no british chavs there!

,but now it's getting swamped by italians/french & russians
Looks much like lake Garda in italy.
Hopefully your travel insurance will cough up for your expenses Cliff?
& credit cards are insured against fraud automatically are'nt they, unlike debit cards?
ta stu..

Unfortunately not Ian - if we had gone to the beach areas perhaps we might not have been robbed but hey - such is life. Yes, it's good to be back but then again we're going back over next week to collect our luggage - another short break!
Ta for the welcome.

Cheers Keith - just typical low lifes from the eastern block unfortunately. Good thing is we don't think we have lost too much other than my leather jacket, wallet with about £90 & my credit cards - card was used and declined twice so that was gr8 news especially. Police have informed us they have our cases so we are flying back out next week to collect them, either way I'm determined not to let the b*****ds get us down :x

Never saw the tw*ts Stu but pehaps that was a good thing for me - you never know these days who'll turn round with some form of a weapon. The Dragon says that I would normally have gone back for something or other and might have disturbed them so really it was better this way.
Montenegro - hmmmmm sounds a good idea mate, never thought of that one. Have to agree that Italy is expensive (on the same level as Paris) but the only place we were disappointed with was Sardinia. This time we were at Bergamo and travelled to Lago di Garda for 2 days and it was absolutely beautiful at this time of the year where it was full of Germans and french tourists - would much rather be with the Italians.
We're hoping the insurance will cough up but need to establish what has been stolen or destroyed 1st, thereinafter the insurers will try to wriggle out of everything as normal.

If you had seen the robbers you're 1st instinct is to tackle them, but as you say what happens if they have a knife!
Insurance companies,so eager to take your premium, but when it comes to paying out?Like getting blood out of a stone!
Your credit cards should automatically be covered.
Hope you get it sorted.
Seriously though if you're happy with italy, fair do's stunning place, but if you fancy a change look up these places in monty, kotor old town, perast, petrovac, prcanj all unesco protected venetian towns built by the italians, but a lot,at least 50% cheaper to eat & drink in!
I've heard calabria is stunning in southern italy,so i'll try & get there one day,but it gives me the hump paying 5 or 6 euro for a small beer, did the amalfi coast 5 years ago, beautiful, but it's just the cost.
Anyway main thing is you're ok & at least the robbery happened at the end of your hols, not the start.
