Re: JDM Combe, Castle Combe, Sat 20 July
Will be good to see you Pete, and your FC
I'll be there in my RX-8, as it's a RX-8 OC Annual Meet Weekend. I'm saving the FB for a few shows later in the season.
I hope you are right about the weather - it's been rubbish here all summer so far (apart from a week we were on holiday abroad
)

Re: JDM Combe, Castle Combe, Sat 20 July
IMPORTANT
Anyone who wishes to partake of hot drinks at Combe and/or Beaulieu will need to bring their own mug (or other drinking vessel of your choosing
)
If you forget, a small supply of club mugs will be available to purchase for £5
I think the club will ask for a small donation (usually £5) which will grant anyone a couple of bacon rolls and "unlimited" hot/cold drinks. A lot cheaper than the food outlets, and helps with club funds too!

Re: JDM Combe, Castle Combe, Sat 20 July
Great to see Vic (and Katie) plus Pete (and his mate) with their superb cars at Combe. The day just zoomed by, with the weather staying mostly dry, for the morning at least. A very enjoyable day, catching up with so many people I haven't seen in a while. We had over 40 cars on the combined RX-8 OC/MRC/rx7fb.com stand. About 10 RX-8's took to the track in the morning for a club exclusive 15 minute track session. They were the ONLY club to do an exclusive session, which was quite a surprise. It gave the opportunity for someone to drive on track for the very first time, with confidence, knowing only a few other RX-8's were with her on track (plus she had an experienced passenger as a guide). She now has 100% got the track bug!
I went to the track a couple of times to watch the action there, otherwise was around the stand all day. I normally wander off to look at the other car stands, but no time this year!
Many congrats to Pete and Clive, both of whom won a well deserved award for their cars in the "TOP 50 Cars of the Show" category
. They were due to do a parade lap with all 50 cars at 3pm, but it started to rain quite heavily at that point, so they both gave the opportunity a miss.
It was great to see the level of interest the show participants took of the pre-2000 rotaries on display - plus some stunning 15+ year old RX-8's in stunning condition too. There was a limited edition, 40th Anniversary RX-8 on the stand, with only 13,800 miles on the clock, looking like it had just left the showroom.
A pic of a lovely selection of Mazda Rotaries:
Lynne's FD
Derek's RX-8
David's FB
Vic's Elford
My RX-8
Clive's RX-4
Pete's FC Turbo II
This picture taken late in the day, so the 2nd of the RX-8 OC Gazebo's is in the process of being taken down and packed away.

“Tunerfest” is a neologism created by combining an English and a German word Fest = celebrate.Hobbawobba wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2024 2:55 pm Awesome as aye. One day I might make it there! I know Tunerfest was also on the same day, which also looked decent![]()
