Re: James' Race car build
I didn’t mention, I fitted my carbon Kevlar bucket seat. Chris had a really big seat in it before and it didn’t fit me at all, so that got sold and I put this one in. But I’ve pulled it back out again now haha. I’d like to modify the floor to mount the seat as low as possible, because headroom can be a problem with roll cage tubes and a helmet! Plus the lower the seat the lower the centre of gravity!

Very hard to find.
I know where there’s a set and he wants moon beams for it.
Back in the UK for the summer, maybe longer......

Re: James' Race car build
If I need a shorter final drive than 4.77 then I will switch to a different axle with more widely available ratios like the ford english axle. I don't want to start paying silly money for a mazda 5.1 final drive, I'm told they don't last very long anyway and wear out after just a few races as they're much weaker than the longer ratios, so even if I managed to find one and paid lot for it, after a few races I'd be back to square one looking for parts again. Ford axle parts are available off the shelf in the UK at many places.

I personally wouldn't use those seat brackets, when Brian Stevens and I went off at Goodwood the very same brackets bent very badly.gt_james wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2020 8:54 pm I didn’t mention, I fitted my carbon Kevlar bucket seat. Re: James' Race car build
No real progress on the race car to report I'm afraid, but I am doing a uni project which is kind of Race car related.
I am designing a 787B style continuously variable intake. I have the start of a manifold for quad ITBs, I'll be designing the velocity stacks next, then the control system. I will design an airbox and eventually look into producing it, but only in the theory stage for now.
