Now to make a start on the front out rigger section

If anyone is close to the Congleton area and have a few minutes to spare sometime to cast an eye over the car and tell me what is missing or needs changing or i could pop along to get some pointers of your car it would be most helpful and very much appreciated,,

Cheers Ray

A bit of help identifying engines needed, being new to the Wankel engine i thought it would be a good idea to purchase one to pull to bits and see what's what, well last week two 12a engines came up on ebay and the seller stated in the ad they could be removed at any time so i rang him up and offered what i thought was a price i could afford as a learning aid, i was promptly told that he had being offered 250 for one engine and as i was only going to strip them to gain a bit of knowledge i left the seller to run his auction, the next day one of the engines was removed and the other left to run, then after looking for another 12a it seemed that spares were getting short in supply so i left it to the dying death and placed a bid which won me the engine, a few days later just before a friend was going to pick them up i had a phone call saying the other chap had let him down and did i want the other engine as well, so i made him an offer and ended up with both for less than i had offered him 6 days earlier,
Now i have them both here the first thing i notice is the exhaust ports are different, the one that looks like it had an independent oil cooler has smaller ports and two tubes sticking up, the one with the attached oil cooler (later engine?) has larger ports and it looks like the tubes removed, i have loads to learn can anyone shed any light on this for me,

Cheers, Ray

that's nice neat work Ray s(c)
Regarding the engines you bought, most 12a's seem to have varying types of insets in the exhaust ports... I've had loads of different types over the years.

Yeah i have being finding this out when trawling around different sites there seems to be sound strange looking inserts, but i can't seem to find any info (not to good with this new fangled internet thing'y) about the different size of the port, they are both single electronic distributors but have subtle difference's on the centre iron, when i have time to strip them i'll post some pics.

Decided to strip one of the engines so picked the one with no compression on the rear, the rotor housings and 1 rotor are kaput but the rest seem ok, is it water ingress that lifts the chrome as it is quite bad and 2 of the apex seals have broken,

The rotors have what look like small rubber seals in the corner seals but only on one side of the rotor?

All in all what i was expecting i have a twin belt alt for mine plus a carb on which to try out the carb mod and some irons to have a go at porting, off to bed now catch you later
