yeah, separate tank and the switch is on the centre console next to the rear demist..... just under the cubby hole. No UK market 1st gens came with air-con... Mazda just used up their remaining stock of switches on the last few cars so bunged the aircon switches into none aircon cars.

As Ian says, the head light washers have their own tank behind the drivers headlight, the windscreen washers have a tank by the brake and clutch master cylinders and the rear wash and wipe has its own 'bag' at the base of the rear hatch.
Got an s2 gear lever in the shed you can have for cost of post if you want it? I'm running an mx5 one. Works like a short shifter

Quickshifter sounds tempting, Steve. Especially as that means I'll be even more motivated to lose the zombieflesh gaiter lol. Is it an easy swap? It was four bolts for an FD, but perhaps with less rust lol.
Combien ca coute, effendi? If it's not too pretentious to mangle French and err Turkish together?
For now I don't want to make any irrevocable changes to the car cos it's so original, but I know sooner or later I'll lose sight of that and go mad on it. I kept everythin I took out of the FD for years until I thought WHY the **** have I got two half-complete rat's nest solenoid racks in the garage? Is there ever going to be a time I think "I know, I'll take the single turbo out and go back to the eighteen dodgy solenoids, five miles of perished vacc line, forty-two broken one-way valves and two mini-me turbos Mazda blighted this car with at birth". Then I threw it all away.
Promise to be a more conscientious custodian of this one

Well its a clip to remove the plastic over the zombie flesh, then 5 bolts holding a second gaiter that seals the cabin. Then its 3 bolts under that holding the shifter itself into the gear box.
The mx5 shifter looks as if it should drop right in, but the tapers on the 'ball' section of the shifters are slightly different so you need to use a couple of washers to space it out from the gearbox to stop it binding. Then a little RTV to seal the gap in the seal. I mean it sounds pretty bodged but it seems to function fine. Quite a few guys in the states use it, which is where i got the idea.

Well, it literally translated means "how much, oh wise one", but close enough lol. Not much Turkish entered colloquial use, might as well make the most of it. Apparently no-one's heard of that except me so we'll move on... Gonna have to search out Ian's gearknob guide to see what the S2 ones are like. Presumably that's a straight swap but I'd end up with a nicer gearknob lol?

It's not so much the size of the knob, I find, as how heavy it is. The idea of Hahhhhnda Spoon titanium gearknobs seems very odd to me, surely feather weight knobs is the last thing you need? FGS, stop tittering at the back...

I think I see NCT tread patterns in the pics? If so they could be aged anywhere from 15 to 20? Out of production since around mid 1990's?
Hope not. But seems likely as our Gus always seems to be pushing the tyre age window ever outwards.
