I'm interested to see more pics of that centre plate. Why the small port like 12AT?
These are pics of an S2 centre plate I was offering to Dan Dillinger last week. (He got fixed up local to Scotland instead).

The background is that I bought some S2 spares... oh......around 15/20 years ago but never saw the scrap car. The scuttle plate was there though, with one centre screen jet.
The ports do look different size.

Not that plate. The one with the little port that GT James has.

Yes, I know, I'm confirming what I think an S2 centre plate is like.

It's a JDM 12A, I thought the plates would be the same as S2? I'll get some pictures later.

Not the same.

You could get lucky with it though. Looking forward to seeing the pics.

Looks like I've ended up with weird 12A stuff again :? Would the JDM 12A plate with the small port be pretty much useless? Am I better off getting different plates or centre plate?

Pretty much useless to you, but let's see the pics first.

They will be useful to someone.

I'm still learning, there seems to have been all sorts of weird and wonderful 12As built. Weird how I keep coming across engines and parts that are nothing like "normal".

Here are the Pictures:

I have tried to find some info on the interwebs. the engine is obviously an R5 block, but that doesn't mean much to me. Are these plates nitrided? would It be possible/worthwhile porting/bridge porting these and building a 13B? or am I best trying to re unite the plates with the rest of the engine and finding some normal S2 or ideally S3 plates for this.

Yeah, that middle plate is pretty much useless, but you could use it with a 12A 6 port I guess.

And I quote:

the NO is the nasty later plate that comes in most things jap,, and maybe cali , with a tiny 24mm high port , small runners and overhead ACV/EGR passage restricting further improvements

In the UK, the S3 plates are definitely nitrided and have N stamped on each plate. The colour is more of a grey.

You can spot a set of S3 plates easy as the rear plate has a T for the water pipes because of the beehive, whereas S2 only has a straight pipe.

I have sets of S3 plates available. I also have 12A style 13B motors and parts.
