Brown isn't normally a colour you'd think of as working well on cars but this lovely two-tone 3000 MkIII Healey proves that wrong. Well, let's call it copper rather than brown shall we?

The forgotten Japanese supercar, the Mitsi GTO. Madly complex engine repsonds well to the polishing mop




Lancia Fulvia, lovely example and presumably one of very few that haven't gone back to the soil, sadly




Wouldn't e a car pageant without a flame-rod. Not that I'm suggesting this has been done before or anything. Still, very nice finish and quality




Errm, plenty of old Jags. I felt obliged to take a few pics, though E-Types have never really "done it" for me. And yes, I'm aware that puts me in something of a minority ::)

For no very easily understood reason Santa Pod brought a demo funny car thing along. Which was, to be fair, quite an inspirational vehicle

The MX-5 owners club had about the largest acreage, which I guess isn't that surprising when you think how many of the damned things there are in the world lol. Most of them, well... most of them were pretty unremarkeable MX-5s, to be fair


Some of them were pretty attention-grabbing though, some very nice builds with a lot of work in them




and though I can't feel the love for this sorta thing personally, I certainly respect the amount of work that's gone into it


I guess it doesn't get driven much, though


I believe this one is the presumably extraodinarily rare and expensive Garage Vary kit, though I stand to be corrected on that one


Not all the owners seemed to be enjoying the show as much as they might...


For me, this was the star of the MX-5 stand. From the front it looks like a normal-ish wide Miata, fairly tidy and with nice wheels


...OK, very nice wheels. And some one-off bodywork


...but as you get further round it you realise just how much of a transformation it's had and how much work has gone into it


Like, just wow! An MX-5 coupe. Awesome


From some angles it looks like there's hints of Ginetta or Marcos or something about it. Hats off to the builder. I just hope it doesn't simply crumble into a wreckage or filler at the first speedhump


There were a fair few Fezzas scattered throughout the fields, A cluster of them jammed into a surprisingly tiny space on the OC stand


and out in general population as well. The 80's ones are still "the" Ferraris for me


...especially when compared to the big, gloopy "styling" on modern ones like this 599. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'd still have one, like

The owner of this 348TS clearly has a sense of humour, judging by the Halfords wing nailed to the boot


It's a funny one, the 348, I can never quite shake off the feeling I may have just been duped by a MkII Toyota MR2 in a bodykit ;D

That was most enjoyable scrolling thru that lot, Ahhh memories. Liked the TWR Xjs by the way. I had three of the TWR saloons at one particularly crazy stage. In fact, here's a couple I prepared earlier....

OK, last few pics for you then. How about some bikes for a change of pace? Not many there, but the ones that were bear a bit of scrutiny. Some sort of CBX1000 owners club had brought along a selection of Honda's daft but amazing six-cylinder behemoth


What a lump! Incredible. Just one more example of Honda "we'll do it just because we can" engineering ethos. Mind you, many owners must have cursed that ethos when trying to balance six indivdual carburettors


I very much liked this streetfightered one, with modern running gear and brakes that... well, brakes that actually brake


A set of these each side because we all know more exhausts wins at Top Trumps


Not a Gold Star but still lovely detail


Some absolutely gorgeous old Kettles (Suzi GT750 two-stroke triples, nicknamed Kettles because of the shape of the cooling water jacket). Very advanced bike for its day, silly rare now

Fizzie Fifty! ;D The 'ped that launched a thousand baseball-booted paddock-jacketed chip-shop grand prix. Whoever thought this'd become a classic!? Should really be Speedblock Yellow though lol


Kawasaki HIII 750 triple two stroke widowmaker brought into the modern era with proper forks and running gear. If ever a bike needed it.


Lovely to see some proper spannies too. I loves two-strokes, does it show?


OK, OK, enough bikes then. Back to cars. What about some random old Citroen? Well before my time, so I'm not even gonna try to name it, but damn it looks well




A Capri. No, not that sort...




Loving the swoopy lines and details, even if the Aemrican-ish styling looks a little clumsy in places


...but I guess this is what most of us think of as a Capri


Loads of American cars as always. A lot of fifties stuff, which is a bit out of my remit to be honest. I tend towards later muscle cars, but I'll have a go. Errrm... Pontiac. Chieftan? Star Chief? Something like that

Conrad loved this cos it's like a red version of Flo from the Cars films. Well, it's progress I suppose


I guess it ain't something you'd want running over your foot lol. As always with cars of this vintage, I love the bonkers Art Deco dash stylings


Someone's gonna have to help me out again with this one. It's some flavour of Buick, that much I got lol


Definitely don't see kerb feelers on enough cars nowadays

...well I always thought it was like a 1/3rd scale Yank tank anyway. Nice to see sooooooo many Anglias still up and about. Even if it does mean yep, more Fords lol


I'm not generally much of a lover of BMWs tbh. Which I suppose is as much my fault as it is the cars, but I did manage to motivate myself to take a couple of pics of some that were undeniably pretty smart

Here's something. From the front it looks like a Beetle (cos it is) albeit a slightly funny one


...but you don't really realise just how funny until you get round the side...


Awesomes! it's a van. Yet also a Beetle. It's a Beetlevan and I want one!

A load of lovely old Z-cars were there. One of my favourite Japanese cars. Arguably, one of my favourite muscle cars too

Speaking of FBs... series 2 Elford Turbo, complete with the kit and everything. I know this car from MRC meets back before I was banned for life lol. Owner was a nice enough fella, happy to talk me round the car

All that's really left is the Astons then. Bizarrely, the Aston Martin stand was the biggest there, and almost gave the Fords a run for their money lol. Dunno whether it's some anniversary for the marque or something, but I'm certainyl not complaining. Not when there were abundant cars as beautiful as this

maybe I'm weird but I prefer the little ducktail lip on the DB6 to the smoother bootline on the earlier models. I realise that puts me in a minority, but hey, I always like to plough my own furrow. As t'were

Nice to see some cars retaining a slight patina, and a used look rather than being immaculate garage queens, too




"That" Ford switchgear. The DB7 is a funny old thing, responsible for the great resurrection but somehow hillariously dated and dare I say it slightly naff. (Again, goes without saying I'd make do, like. I'm just sayin')


and even on the later models they look amazing, work amazing, are amazing...


....but somehow just don't have the shock and awe and the pure beauty of the earlier models. In my humble opinion, of course

The Volante, I guess, is gonna be a big favourite


though for me it'd be the good ol' V8. I just love the sledgehammer attitude of these cars, the way no-one cared if it weighed two tons, it just meant they needed to cram in a more powerful engine ;D
