Hello,
Long time lurker first time poster.
I've owned an '83 RX7 for about 4 months, it's got no history, no MOT and was "rescued" by a friend from an industrial unit, who did a couple of fun bits, like alu rad, oil cooler and some small bits of welding before he lost hope and I forced him to part with it.
It's surprisingly solid, and looks to have simply been parked up and left for a great deal of time. This is my first rotary but probably by 40th car, having own a bonkers amount of retro rust from beetles, land rovers, ginettas, jags, mx5s and a rolls royce.
The car is Misty blue and appears to be an original Elford Turbo
I'll pop more details in a build thread shortly.
Nice to meet you all
Adam
Oh I'm based in Kent, UK

Re: Hello
Hi Adam,
Good to see another member on here, welcome.
I am not sure that it is an Elford. Normally they have a front bumper with an integral front spoiler and a different rear spoiler. Some have sideskirts.
Be good to see how you get on with your project.
Cheers
Kev

Re: Hello
I know what you mean about the body kit, but the badge which was on the back has identical paint fade to the mazda badge under it.
So if it's not an original original it's certainly been converted at some point in the 80s or 90s in order for the paint bleaching to match. Judging by the state of the gaskets the turbos been on there as long as the engines been in the car too
But who knows it's not staying stock and the crap badge isn't going back either.

You could choose either a turbo upgrade only or the upgrade with full or part body kit. It was all down to how much you wanted to spend.

Re: Hello
Hi Adam,
I used to work for Mazda in the early 80s and it is completely correct that we used to send new cars to Vic Elford with a list of customers required additions, not many were requested without the body kit but there were some, I happen to have one also lol.
Good luck with your car and great to see another car being recommissioned , cheers Steve.
