Sounds like quite a task - but what an interesting idea! Have you got any pictures to show how it would look?

You are very right about the requirement of adding strength though - I cut the roof off a mark 2 escort for fun and the doors wouldn't open if you were sitting in it :)

My plan it to bolt a length of scaffold tubing to the chassis rails underneath the floor plan for additional strength and then to cut the roof at the join of the roof and A posts and also cut the B posts at door height.
lol. April 1st today, innit?

yeah, I hoped to start the conversion last month but my good friend, Dr. Aprile Pazzo in Jersey, who did the bodywork structural calcs for me ( some of you may remember her from when she sold me her RX7 a few years back) took slightly longer to produce the drawing.

Yeah, and you know as well as I do that there is a convertible FB. It's got a floppy tent pole to brace the soft top, remember?

Like the strength of the scaffold pole calculation. A good prank needs to have some embedded technical stuff.

Passed its mot this morning with no advisories........ 0-0

even when you're quietly confident, it's still a relief to get that pass certificate....

tester was impressed with the condition of it...
had the old emissions thing though...... he was just about to put the probe up the exhaust to test the emissions when I told him it was a visual for smoke only and produced the page out of the testers manual..... to be fair, he tests that many cars, day in, day out, he was just following his set sequence of testing.... I'm glad I had the paperwork to back up what I was saying though.

Now for a summer of happy rotoring!!!!!
