Do it Dave! I'm glad I did this job on Kimi 2, before it got really bad underneath:

Before cleanup - I didn't take a post cleanup pic, but it was a devil to remove the rust and grot that had imbedded itself in the lacquer!

I did end up having to rattle-can spray the left hand side though. I did end up putting quite a bit of "3M" type clear film under there to protect where the fixings might otherwise damage the paintwork. Sadly, no pictures.

After dremelling the rust off the fixings, prior to full POR-15 treatment.

Yeah, get it done aye! That protection film sounds like a pretty damn good idea in a spot like that actually! I would never have thought of that one 0-0

Dave. I have removed my headlight washer bottle completely if you want to have it at some point aye bro (it works). Probably easiest to grab at a show sometime, if they ever start back up again haha

A few weekends back, I decided to get the rear sway bar and drop links off. This was an unfinished job from a few years ago and it stayed unfinished because the bolts and nuts holding the mounting bracket to the chassis were not playing nice.

... and it was bloody cold ... so i messaged my tame garage buddy to say i was calling it a day. He seemed quite keen to have a bash at it, paticularly because he is not afraid of breaking things. I am presented with a pictorial update the next day ...

The only casualty was one drop link bolt. Before I could reply, I received this ..

and then this!

He's a bit keen (and I'll have to go back and paint the front conponents at some stage now)

He does good work though. He tackled a little corrosion at the front and finished it off in some Ford shade of red,

Friends, Where would we be without them?

The combination racing beat spring and gas powered gabriel damper seems very rare. Control the fixing of the spring when the axle is completely hanging down.
Very dangerous when loose the spring if you race the car.

All those new parts Dave h[b[ ...you will notice a difference with the new suspension, (you probably do it as a matter of course already) I always put grease on the bolts/nuts when re-assembling components so they come apart easy if there is a next time, good time to do it at the moment, anything else to do?

RockAuto had no KYB dampers in stock when I was ordering several months ago. The Gabriel dampers are only temporary and I plan to replace them with a pair of KYB AGX adjustable items in due course.

The KYB Gas-A-Just items that came off seem to have plenty of strength left in them anyway so I will end up with some great additions to my spare parts department, Thomas.

Thanks for the advice Thomas. The rear axle has been lowered just enough to remove the shocks, anti-roll bar and upper arms but not so much as to allow the springs to dislodge or rotate.
