doesn't the RX-4 use Taptites the same as the 1st gens then?

Thanks for all the support guys, gives me alot of motivation!

So Friday didn't go to planned as my mate wasn't very helpful and only ended doing a couple hours work (he's more into his bikes).

So to that end - I worked all of yesterday in my mates body shop and then went to the garage till 0230 and tried to get all the welding done. I've also found out the the dockyard does acid dipping and sand blasting so I'm getting all the bits acid dipped tonight (will take a couple weeks). I don't really like the look of all that hammerite I put on the engine mounts etc so I'm going to hibuild and block them down and then spray a satin black which will give it a smoother finish!

Yes I'm going to have trouble getting all these metric fastners for the build anybody got any ideas what I can do? Maybe redrilled alot of the holes and re-tap? But that may be alot of ball ache.

Here's some pics of my welding I did this morning, it's really not the best but fiberglass will be going over it and there's no more rot as such!
Used the old carboard cut out trick - works a treat!!

I don't think you need much support. The work going on here is phenominal ( from my point of view) time and effort commitment ....

You seem very confident and competent too... Loving all the updates,i can't add much other than the above and enjoy all updates... Keep loads of photos coming makes the early rides for work worth it

I have been reading your thread, and i must say i'm impressed with your commitment !
One thing keeps appearing, the metric fine fasterners. Why do you need them, why don't you re-use the original one's? I used all the old ones again when i rebuild my 929 Hardtop( no RX4 ). Claened them up, a few minutes in acid and zinc-coated them myself. Problem with supplyers is, that you need to buy a complete box of one size most of the time. There is a store close to where i live, in Belgium, you can buy them one by one. Other solution is to find these bolts is at the scrappers. All older Mazda's and most of Japan-build cars use the metric fine threads.
Rear suspention parts i zinc-coated myself using a vinegar/salt bath and a battery charger.

there's a few fastener suppliers near me that can get anything really, "allfast", "make ends meet", not sure if you can order online from them?

what about bolts bolts? I'd be surprised if you can't get metric fasteners.

What are you doing with fibreglass?

I tend to get my stuff of ebay.. There are a few suppliers I tend to use for getting stainless and plated high tensile bits aye. http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Kays-Fasteners Is a good one. They usually have multiple listings for the same items, with some being cheaper than the other. So keep an eye out! .
