Been a busy boy today, not too much to show for it though!

I spent some time this morning cutting out the rough shape for my intake adapter plate I started yesterday. By lunchtime I decided I was bored of sawing and grinding and drilling and that I'd rather make a start on the loom. I was hoping to not have to do much with the loom inside the car besides bringing the fresh wires in for Megasquirt.

It soon became apparent that was not gonna be the case. I want to do this rewiring properly, rather than bodged in, so with a little help from a friend the dash had to come out.



And then with the help of Mr Haynes I made a start on figuring out which wires I need to keep and which are going in the bin. This could take some time....

Got a few more hours in today

The wiring is slowing getting a bit more organised. I've got most of the obsolete wiring out now, and I'm almost ready to start putting the new wires in.




I've also been working on my manifold adapter. I'd did the basic shape and mounting bolts over the past few days and today I started cutting the ports through it. I got the primaries done and have rough marked the secondaries so I can do the initial cut.

Over the course of a couple of evenings this week I finished off my 13b to 12a adapter. Considering I made it in the garage with only hand tools (would have killed for a mill-drill when i got half way through!) I'm pretty pleased with how it's come out.



This meant that today I was able to finally bolt the throttle bodies up to the engine!




Woo! The choke cable lines up perfectly to work the cold idle speed adjuster. I need to sort a different throttle cable though. And some air filters!

I was going to carry on with the wiring, but figured I might as well carry on fitting parts and fabricating brackets etc, then I can have a whole day of wiring tomorrow. First up was the crank angle sensor installed and an oil filter sandwich plate so I can mount my oil temp sender somewhere it might read sensible numbers!



Then I made a little shelf to mount my coils on. I need to get some paint on it when it's above freezing!

I've made steady progress when I've been able to grab a few hours here and there to get on with this wiring. By the time the light was fading today the engine bay was fully wired, but still needs wrapping and tidying up. I've not taken many photos as hours of tracing wiring diagrams, trimming wires and soldering aren't really photogenic.




And the new sections of loom and now into the cabin, where I've got most of the interior back in.



I'd made a bracket to mount the Megasquirt ECU in the glove box, but now it's all back together it's fouling the heater blower. So altering that bracket is next on my hit list. Once the ECU is mounted then I need to wire up my 3 new relays and extra 3 fuses and then it'll be time to start on the fuel pumps and swirl pot at the back of the car.

So steady progress, but the cold weather is making it hard work!
