New Project! Codename POPS

Post by Victorsanders »

Hi everyone, Name is Vic and im from Westerham in Kent.

Im now on my 2nd FB as my first was left to me by my late father.

Since then i had to get rid of my previous FB which was nicknamed "Lady Di" by my father, as unfortunately due to rust it did not survive.

Since then i have been searching high and low for a new RX7 so that i could rebuild it to look like my dads.

I still have the TWR bodykit and steering wheel ready and waiting to go on!

My new RX7 is from a lovely elderly gentleman in Devon.

It needs a bit of TLC, Well to be honest it needs a lot of TLC.

Im currently trying to source a replacement rear axle due to the dreaded rust!

Any ways the new project is nicknamed "Pops" after my dad and will be rebuilt of memory of :)

Any hints, tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated and i look forward to sharing my new project with you all :D

The shell needs a bit of welding but its not irrepairable!

Its just this axle that im worried about, the rust has blown through into the shaft and i cant find a replacement anywhere :(

There was a NOS rear axle housing on EBay for weeks. Can't see it there now so it must have sold within the last few days :(

That's a nice looking car Vic... there are usually a few 2nd hand axles floating about, I gave one away a few months back.... make sure you get one off a series 3 RX7 though as they are different between the different series.
This guy was beaking a S3 in Devon...

Might be worth giving him a ring to see if the axle is still available?

Good luck with your new car and if you get chance, please start a build thread in 'Rides & Projects' so we can follow your progress and give you all the help we can
