Interesting, there are many benifits in using a synthetic oil, low viscosity, helps engine cranking, additives etc, longerlife of oil,

Oh I know they don't so didn't mention the 5w30 magnatech I use. Just re-irrerating what Tool and few others have said that Mazda recommended castrol engine oils and for their diff oils etc. I have heard of royal purple in the states being used.apexheid wrote:rx8's comment don't count here.spoddy wrote:Mazda always recommended castrol oil.

Seing as we dont now the history of engine we are going to install, I shall recommend mineral oil, but if this was a new build I would be putting synthetic in it,

Just read through this topic and i'm still indecisive to which oil to use.
As far as i'm aware the car still has the OMP,so do i go with 10w30 mineral,20w50 mineral or Castrol 15w40 semi?

I've used Castrol Magnatec 10W40 or its predecessor for the last 30 years in mine and it's still running ok.

It's the right grade. It's the right weight for our climate. It's cheap as you need to change it regularly. Even more so on a BP due to fuel contamination of the oil.
