12a issues
12a issues
I have a s3 12a that i am having a few troubles with. I recently rebuilt the carb and reinstalled it. It now runs much smoother when cold but as it gets warm it starts to get rougher until the point that it will not idle without pressing the gas. another issue that started since the rebuild is that the rear secondary of the carb is constantly dripping large amounts of gas into the engine. also another minor problem is that the oil level light is constantly flickering but it has the correct amount of oil. i know this is not a major problem but little things like that tend to bug me. so if anyone can help me with any of my issues that would be greatly appreciated

Re: 12a issues
what is your oil pressure doing?....... the amount of oil in the engine means nothing.... if the pumps not giving the correct pressure you are heading for disaster

i have good pressure, the issue is that the oil level light on the instrument cluster flickers constantly and it is a bit of an annoyance.

Re: 12a issues
The wrong pressure sender will do this.
You need to match the pressure sender to the light. FB pressure sender makes my RX2 light flicker.
Dummies check of oil pressure: squeeze oil cooler lines with engine running. Should be rock solid.
Carb float is set too hight or top of carb not sealing properly to the body.
What's it idling at? You set the ignition timing correctly? You understand how to set the idle fuelling and air?

Re: 12a issues
Oil level sender is on the sump. Disconnect the lead from the sender and clean everything up. Check the condition of the lead too.
You will need to fix the fuel leak. Lots of very hot surfaces in the engine bay = recipe for disaster. Check that the unions are tight and not cross threaded.
