Real nice job on the suspension and brakes.
Looks great!

Re: Hello from South Africa
Thanks, just finished up the rear suspension this weekend, as a result started the car up for the first time in 3 months.
Cannot describe how I missed the sound of that engine!
Started up first turn, which I did not expect considering I had forgotten the battery connected....

Here are a couple photos of the rear, have not taken of it fitted yet.

Re: Hello from South Africa
Looking good Keith, there's something nice about a cleaned up, refurbished and repainted rear suspension ready to go back on the car.......

That's very true, I see these lovely suspension jobs then look at mine and think.......when something breaks perhaps I'll bite the bullet.

Thanks, I must give credit to my girl friend who spent all weekend helping me get the rear back together and back into the car, not sure how I got that lucky!!

New springs, yes, Racingbeat, no. Had them custom made to my specs and then powder coated. Had all the bits sand blasted and powder coated.
Decided that if I am taking the rear out to do some work that I have to do it properly first time.
Did all new bearings, rebuild the calipars, new brake pads, shocks, Energy suspension bushes, braided stainless flex brake hoses, made new hard lines, resurfaced the underside of the car and gave the fuel tank a clean while fitting a new fuel pump, relay and new fuel lines.
The one thing I have come to learn about working on the car is dont even bother about setting a schedule and targets to work towards, they alls take twise as long as planned....
mainly due to bokts snapping off and poor previous repairs
that now need to be corrected.

Re: Hello from South Africa
Getting the rear suspension off is a horrible job.... the bolts to the radius arms are a right struggle to get out, what with being rusted to the sleeves in the bushes and the nuts rusted onto the bolts themselves....this work should transform the handling of your car, it did on my car when i did it.

I hope so, have not been able to test drive it yet, waitng for the new flex hose to go from the body to the diff, local supplier did not have enough stock of the fittings needed.
Was also really suprised how worn the shocks were, loosed the nuts off the top and they just kind of collapsed, there was just no life left in them.

That was the exact problems I had, ended up cutting the heads off and whacking them out with a punch.ian65 wrote:the bolts to the radius arms are a right struggle to get out, what with being rusted to the sleeves in the bushes and the nuts rusted onto the bolts themselves
